  • SCARY WIND!

I am an east coast girl, a city girl really. When I moved out to the mid-west I was told to watch out for tornados. They sound like trains people told me. It did not help that our first home was a little trailer next to a railroad track. Whenever I heard that noise, I never knew if it was a tornado coming for me or the 7:23 headed to Chicago! When we moved to Iowa, it got worse. You could never wear a hat in Iowa. One day the wind bent the steel door to our apartment building. I had nightmares about tornados. We have lived a few places since then but now we are back in my home territory albeit in the suburbs. We have had some scary wind storms. I don't remember wind storms like this being here before. In March we had a doosey of a windstorm that blew down several trees including one that crushed my house so you can see why I am not too partial to them. Last night the wind was so loud I could have sworn the freight line took a wrong turn and was passing through my property. The wind is still kicking up outside. I can see those tall trees swaying from where I sit. Yikes!!!!!

  • Oh, Ana -- my sympathies are with you!  I've always hated serious windstorms and feared such things as tornadoes and hurricanes.  My thoughts are with you as these winter storms run through your area!

  • Wind storms are so scary. And tornadoes are even scarier. Hope you are safe! Hang on tight! Hugs!

  • yep..this minnesota girl relates...sending you love from minnesnowta..thank you for your sweet comments on my site also...

  • I'm petrified of wind. It was so bad at one point that anytime they forecasted heavy winds I will go to my mom and dad's house. I'm doing better coping with it but still hate wind. Last night we had some fierce wind too. I laid on the couch listening to it howling. I didn't sleep much to say the least.

    Stay safe!

  • @slmret - @adamswomanlost - @fortheloveofblogging - so far we are doing fine...just tramatized, I guess! Some people lost their electricity around here but we even managed to keep ours...

@portiajules - you are welcome, Charlotte... happy snowshoeing!

  • Hang in there -- I hope tonight is calmer!

  • @slmret - the wind blew in gusts all day but it is quieter tonight ... it knocked most of the remaining leaves off the trees ...

  • I once had a nightmare about mini-tornadoes. I was on top of a table shooing them down and cowering.
